What I did to heal my ulcerative colitis

My ulcerative colitis was diagnosed in April 2008. After having followed regular therapies based on corticoids during 2 years unsuccessfully, I started to look for alternatives....
  Why looking for alternatives? I know it's always a hundred times easier to go to a doctor and wait for a miracle drug to be prescribed just like when you have a flu...but if it had worked, trust me I would not have given myself a very hard time exploring all those so called alternative therapies...

You know you always have to give yourself a chance with a regular surgeon, but from what I hear and read everywhere, ulcerative colitis is not the kind of illness that can be healed easily if at all...
I was so convinced that modern medicine was powerful enough to heal me that I took an appointment with the greatest european specialist of Crohn and ulcerative colitis (the guy is after the nobel prize) hoping that he would have something interesting to give me, even if it would have been experimental I was very keen on trying it...but...guess what? he told me that the only thing he had was corticoids and mesalazine...NOT CURABLE ...unless...you ask your surgeon to removve the inflammated part of the intestine: sorry but if god gave me one there must be a reason for this...

For me, the priority is to recover my physical and mental performances, whatever it takes...so if there is even the slightest chance to heal with an alternative treatment, even boring and complex as hell, I'll be very happy to explore this alternative, which, that said, has exceeded all my expectations



But let's cut the crap and focus on my first success on the way of the alternative treatments:  I experienced the most benefic effects when trying concentred curcumin caps called flexofytol. The only cons is that the effects were very short terms: only 3 months. But during that time I was able to drink and eat whatever I wanted without experiencing any symptom: even gluten, coffee and alcool.

Unfortunately the benefits of the concentrated curcumin were getting smaller and smaller and in April 2011 I was experiencing a flare...again...
Even worse the flare was resisting to the corticoids so I had to increase the dosage...I had to come back to reality as all the alternative treatments experts preach for a drastic change in the way we eat, according to them, if you dont avoid certain foods, you can not heal...so this is how I convinced myself to explore the most difficult of all alternative treatments: the total change of diet: the Specific Carbohydrate Diet (SCD)


This diet stopped litterally all my symptoms including the bleedings...unfortunately this diet is VERY hard to follow and trust me: to stop smoking is extremely easy compared to this diet.


On top of that if you ever eat something forbidden by the diet you will immediately experience bleeding symptoms and fatigue. After following the diet during 6 months to the T, I started to eat forbidden foods like pasta and pizzas during 2 full months...

What a mistake because the bleeding came back after 2 months of forbidden foods, and even after 1 month of strict diet the bleedings were still there: so after searching on the net I decided to try to drink green clay with psyllium: the bleedings that I could not stop with the SCD diet only were stopped in 24 hours (I got this idea from the website wholeapproach.com)


I detail there below how to drink ultra ventilated green clay as you have to be careful in order to avoid constipation:

There are several ways to drink green clay, depending on everyone reaction...anyway everyone should drink it 30 to 60 minutes before eating.

Here are the main 2 ways to drink green clay:

1. 2 tea spoon of green clay in a large glass of water with 2-3 psyllium caps. The psyllium is added to help the intestines to heal and to avoid the constipation that could be caused by the clay

2.same as 1 but you leave the clay fall in the bottom of the glass for at least 60 minutes


Perso, I use the solution number 1.
I insist that only the ultra ventilated green clay should be used in order to prevent the risks of constipation...




The fact that the duo psyllium/green clay was working so well to remove the symptoms from my ulcerative colitis that I started to search for something even more powerful, which I found: the humaworm herb mix (see the website humaworm.com).
My symptoms were stopped by the green clay and the psyllium but I was not feeling in a shape as good as I was before my ulcerative colitis. Humaworm gave me just that back: a very powerful shape: physically and intellectually...my victory on UC was now complete!


As a conclusion I would say that to heal this illness you need first to accept that it is caused by food intolerances...I succeeded in healing my UC when I started to avoid foods that are proven to be allergenic to people suffering from IBD and UC. I followed a diet that is derived from Elaine Gloria Gottschall book "breaking the vicious cycle" and from another diet called "GAPS".


There is a simple way to identify the foods that are allergenic to most UC and IBD sufferers:

This is all about avoiding the foods that you are most likely allergic to during 2 weeks before reintroducing them and noticing the eventual side effects: do you feel more or less tired? are your intellectual abilities affected?

The foods that are most likely allergenic are the following:

  1. Sugar
  2. Gluten
  3. Lactose (all dairy products) 
  4. Flour (try a 1 by 1): rice, potatoes, sourdough, rye, cereal .... 
  5. Fruits (contain sugar 
  6. Fried foods (anything that is cooked in oil) 
  7. All processed foods (dishes, ketchup ...) 
  8. The meats (containing glucose or lactose 
  9. eggs
  10. the pig




     . Here is the most important part of my testimony which details exactly what to eat when you are suffering from IBD, Crohn or Ulcerative Colitis syndromes


    To keep it simple, during 1 year you will have to forget about everything that you like: bread, coffe, sugar, pastas, pizzas, hamburgers, cheese, milk, tea, fried foods, and alcool of course :)

    You will only be allowed to drink water and everything will have to be prepared at home and if it's organic it's even better although it s not mandatory...you are allowed to use raw olive oil, you are not allowed to heat it. Everything that you cook must be cooked in water, or vapor.

    This diet is divided in 4 phases:

    Phase 1 for 10 days: chicken soup at least once a day, veal cooked in broth ball, omelette without fat (all the same good look if you are not allergic to eggs - that's possible), steamed fish, beef cooked at low temperature (80 degree oven), chicken cooked in chicken broth, salt and you can eat as much as you want: no restrictions on the amount and avoid pork.

    Phase 2 for 10 days: same as Phase 1 but begins to reintroduce vegetables COOKED steam or water in small quantities and peeled zucchini, pumpkins, beans, carrots, leeks (only the heart - a test), turnips, parsnips : that is for those who are safe. You can try stewed apple banana in small quantities.A particularly avoid: onions, cabbage tomatoes peppers eggplant

    Phase 3 for 2 weeks: same as 2 except that increasing amounts of vegetables and varieties while avoiding like the plague garlic, onion, eggplant, pepper, and ... but we can begin to test vegetables raw like lettuce or cucumbers once a week and more often if AC goes

    Phase 4 is the cruise phase for 1 year: same as 3 except that the rice begins to reintroduce in very small quantities once a week for 1 month and then once every 2 days (always in small quantities) if it Password ... almonds (plain and organic) once a week if ca ... going all raw and cooked vegetables except those prohibited in phase 3 and can also be introduced in goose fat to replace oil for cooking that you love : zucchini ...

    The good news is that when you are in stage 4 you can give yourself an hour two gaps (the gap should last no more than one hour) per week or you eat ANYTHING you want: it makes the system more human but be careful not to exceed 2 times.


    I detail below the recipe for chicken soup to follow below because it is very important to the success of the plan being that we must take given at least once a day since that glycine contains a help heal the intestines:J took a sample and slightly adapted the recipe found here:
    Ingredients: 

    2 l of water 
    6 or 12 organic chicken wings or a chicken carcass (good quality!) to ask your friendly butcher, poulterer etc..or a whole chicken 
    1 leek 
    1 carrot 
    1 onion stuck with a clove 
    3 peppercorns 
    A pinch of salt
     1 glass of white wine (good, not necessarily expensive) 

    How to: 

    Place the carcass (or drumsticks, or chicken) in water, add the leek (white and green, clean, and whole), carrot own - I do not peel-onion (peeled there) piqued his nail, pepper, salt, wine (to break everything, 5 ') 
    Make up near ebullition heat, then reduce dramatically to Proceed uphill to cook, without boiling, for 4 hours or 2 hours if you are sensitive
     t.Get the meat, if any, throw vegetables (drained); keep the fat and put your soup in the fridge. 

    The trick, if my broth has cooled (the next day, eg.) With everything in it because I have not had time to take care of it: I warm up a bit, like this, gelatin and fat again become liquid, and the meat falls off bones much better.




     I want to belabour the fact that it is important not to stop taking medication (corticoides. ..) when you are in crisis, but to increase their efficiency by following thediet fanatically (it is here that you must be very rigorous), and taking the green clay 6 hours after doses of medication, because it is possible that clay reduces the effectiveness of drugs.  
    For example, I would say that if icortisone is taken in the morning then get a glass of clay at bedtime. 

    Once the crisis is over, all symptoms disappeared and corticosteroids should be stopped to increase catches of green clay up to 3 times a day according to the protocol detailed on the site wholeapproach.com (http://www.wholeapproach. com / candida / protocol.php) in terms of food supplements while respecting the regime ... The  Colet Lahoz book "Conquering yeast infection" also gives many details on how to follow. 

    But good news, three months after the disappearance of all symptoms, one can be granted two variances food per week: that is to say you can eat two meals or absolutely what you want. The intestines should be able to bear it if the rest of the time the plan is followed to the letter and if each of these difference do not last more than an hour ... 



    Once the intestines recovered well (starting at the very least six months, rather see 12) the final phase has come to end unwanted bacterial flora was using natural products as anti parasitic Humaworm or cure anti parasites .. Clark  


     I have also tried something very unconventional which is recommended by someone who has overcome his UC, an American who calls himself crohnsboy (http://www.crohnsboy.com/),:colloidal silver.

     Well, no miracle but a noticeable improvement quite frankly ... but not enough to break the bank.I also note that I always use the coconut oil: I try to take 2-3 tablespoons per day: j I really feel that this helps ... especially after an excess food :) 

    I just learned also that linoleic acid is greatly in UC and Crohn's as anti-inflammatory:  I try to see if it makes me be a good extra ... it makes you lose weight and more it seems :)
    Finally,  I also tried acupuncture and I think the few sessions that I attended have greatly contributed to my remission. I went there out of curiosity and I came away convinced more on a psychological level as a session gives you a dose of "Zen" quite incredible  ... and for me it is clear that the psychological benefits of these sessions have helped, I would say even accelerated remission ...  

    Now some useful information when you're in a flare:

        
    Do not "force" when you go to the saddle, you could reopen your wounds
        
    Sleeping a maximum sleep aids healing
        
    Preferred swimming to jogging if you exercise: it seems that jogging does not necessarily promote healing because of all the shocks
        
    do not hesitate to practice the sauna / steam room to help eliminate toxins: indeed in a crisis, the intestine is inflamed it produces many toxins as it does not work properly which has the effect of overloading the liver (or of a yellow complexion that can appear during a crisis) 

    Summary of action plan:
